Using the simplest technique Hamadani has constructed a system for creating maps of infinite possibilities. Every stopping point along the ink’s way offers both a crossroads and a multitude of choices. The crooked lines and imperfect shapes that emerge are the result of a finite set of decisions never to be repeated nor erased.
Mahmoud Hamadani was born in Iran and currently works in New York, NY. After earning a degree in mathematics, he worked in a related field for several years. In 1992, he earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, which lead to a position as political advisor with the United Nations in Afghanistan. He has since turned his interests in complex systems to art. His first solo show was at Karen McCready Fine Art, New York, NY. His work is included in the collection of the British Museum.
