ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Ismail Khalidi graduated from Macalester College in 2005. He made his playwriting debut in September-October at the Pangea World Theater in Minneapolis with Truth Serum Blues. Critic Lydia Howell noted in The Pulse of the Twin Cities: "His beautiful writing ranges from a kind of hip-hop spoken work to a Greek chorus to chilling hallucinatory interrogations." Directed by Dipankar Mukherjee, Truth was selected as the best solo-performance of 2005 in Lavendar Magazine (Minneapolis). Khalidi has performed in several theatrical productions, including In the Mirror and With Love from Ramalla; and has read his poetry around the Twin Cities. His work has been published in Mizna and Electronic Intifada. He recently received The Playwright Center's Many Voices residency award, SASE/Jerome as well as Emerging Voices grant.
