Marathon Beirut
Other films at various times
Alwan is pleased to co-sponsor four films at the second annual Chasama Film Fastival.
The festival, which screens films from around the world, is showcasing Deborah Harse's documentary Marathon Beirut: For the Love of Lebanon, on Saturday, Oct 24, at 7:45pm. The film chronicles the decision to hold the Beirut Marathon despite the political turmoil surrounding Lebanon at the time. Also screened at the festival are Huda Abdul-Razzak's short "History Matters," about Israel's assault on Gaza at the beginning of this year, Pamela Nice's "Desert in the Coffee House," about middle American attitudes about the Middle East, and Yoni Goodman's animated short "Closed Zone" that articulates the grotesquely ignored humanity of the people of Gaza.
