Sponsored by The Syrian Club of NY & NJ
Free and Open to the Public
The horrific events in Gaza over the past month have deeply touched those in the Alwan community and beyond. An Arab and Middle Eastern cultural organization dedicated to a progressive mission, we have discussed what would be an appropriate, sensitive response, both as a tribute and as a salve to the raw feelings so many of us possess. With art and music as our guide, we invite you to an evening of communal singing, both for self healing, and as an act of solidarity with the brave, suffering people of Gaza.
Please join us as we raise our voices, open our hearts, and sing some of the Arab world's most beloved songs. Lyrics will be provided in Arabic, with English transliteration and translation. We will be accompanied by a group of some of New York's most renowned musicians.
