The lecture will sketch the crucial historical background to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and then consider key obstacles to a just and lasting settlement of the conflict.

Norman Finkelstein is an independent scholar with an outstanding international reputation. His works dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the politics of the Holocaust have been translated into numerous languages, and have received praise from Noam Chomsky and the distinguished Holocaust scholar Raul Hilberg. Finkelstein is the subject of several documentaries, including "American Radical," to be released later this year. His latest book Beyond Chutzpah, On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History, was published in 2005 by University of California Press.
