A Screening of
The prize-winning film "Arna's Children," written and directed by Juliano Mer Khamis and Danniel Danniel
Arna's Children tells the story of Arna Mer Khamis, a legendary activist against the Israeli Occupation. Born into a Jewish family, she married a Palestinian Arab and spent her life campaigning for justice and human rights in her homeland. Her story was written by her son Juliano, who worked with his mother at the Jenin refugee camp, where Arna opened a theatre group to teach the children to express anger, bitterness, and fear through acting and other arts.
Proceeds from this film will be donated to support the visit to New York in June of the Al Rowwad Artistic Center in the Aida Refugee Camp near Bethlehem, the West Bank. Like Arna's legendary school in Jenin, Al Rowwad, founded by Dr. AbdelFattah Abu-Srour, teaches dramatic arts, languages, computer skills, and other activities to give Palestinian children creative ways to redirect their frustrations.
Admission: $12. but we would appreciate any additional contribution because it is very costly bringing thirteen children and three adults to the United States.
