Animation and technology studio FlickerLab is leaving its studio in SoHo and headed to Dumbo, Brooklyn. In celebration of this transformation and farewell, FlickerLab is sponsoring the exhibition Are We Already Gone? Artists on the Art of Leaving, a time-mark after 15 years in Manhattan.
Curator Negin Sharifzadeh has asembled a group of more than 30 artists from around the world, most of whom have been displaced in one way or another from their point of origin, exploring the transformations they have experienced from this displacement and all of life’s other dislocations.
There is an ambiguity and a sense of the unknown in the act of leaving. To leave is to forever transform the thing that is left, and to enter into metamorphosis oneself, by growth, change of location, status, identity, or death.
Tickets: $10 Online | $12 at the Event
