Estimated value: $300
Starting bid: $100
Diana Jensen was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After college she received her MFA from Northwestern University. She won a fellowship to Skowhegan, after which she moved to Brooklyn where she is currently based. For the past several years she has been making paintings and painting installations derived from found photographs. She investigates and researches the details of individual snapshots, gradually getting to know the persons depicted. Her paintings zoom in on photographic details, recording the subtleties –the touch of hands, a loving gaze. With paint she wishes to impart a weight and physicality to the persons depicted in the lost photographs—restoring the presence of those forgotten
